Cut out Caffeine

When I was in school we used to play a game called "Would you Rather?" which involved asking each other questions like, "Would you rather have the nose of an elephant or the legs of a giraffe?" or "Would you rather hear everyone else's thoughts constantly or have everyone hear your thoughts?" Now I know this childhood game was preparing me to face an equally vexing question that I must ask myself now, "Would you rather give up coffee forever or only be able to speak while hanging your head upside down?"

Giving up coffee is the hardest lifestyle change I have had to make in my quest to eradicate Patulous Eustachian Tube but it is also probably the most important. Of all the lifestyle changes I am making cutting out the coffee is having the biggest effect.

We all know the general negative side effects of coffee which include not being able to sleep, restlessness, and a stomach that is upset, but the caffeine in the coffee also imperceptibly shifts the balance in our bodies in ways that can drastically effect Patulous Eustachian Tube.

Why do we love coffee so much? It gives us energy and helps ease us into the morning. So to fill the void of coffee I now am  now incorporating some tips I found online into my morning routine to energize myself. These include drinking 16 ounces of water before I even get out of bed in the morning, then having a breakfast that includes some almonds or peanuts, doing a  morning yoga routine with a video I found on YouTube feature yoga instructor Cole Chance , and one that seems to work oddly well which is smelling a cinnamon stick. I will gladly give up coffee to have the chance of eradicating my symptoms knowing I can find new ways to start the morning.
